Brewers Fans Find it hard to Accept Cardinals World Series Win
By Jackson | Posted Monday, October 31
The 2011 baseball season has come to an end. Milwaukee Brewers fans were probably not very happy to see that St. Louis won game seven of the World Series at home on Friday night. The Cardinals, or the “kings of the comeback,” were ten games out of first place in August. They managed to make up enough games to earn a wild card slot, and enter their first playoff series against the Phillies. Most expected them to fall to the best team in the regular season. After pulling off an unlikely defeat of Philadelphia, St. Louis advanced the NLCS to face Milwaukee. Ultimately the Cardinals prevailed over the Brewers, then the Rangers for the World Series title.
Brewers Fans Still Hurting from Loss to St. Louis Cardinals
Many Milwaukeeans I ran into were adamantly rooting for a Texas win. That makes sense. The Cardinals are a fairly big market team who can buy talent. They have the second most titles in history; albeit more than fifteen less than the Yankees. Brewers fans feel that they robbed our home-town team of their proper place in baseball lore. As much as these are all reasons to loath Friday's celebrations in St. Louis, that anger is misplaced. The World Series title has been brought home for all of the National League teams. The Cardinals have given the Brewers, (and all others,) a reason to be proud of our accomplishments this season.
