Milwaukee Brewers Welcome Joe Buck to Broadcast Booth

Milwaukee Brewers famed play-by-play radio personality Bob Uecker will be joined by seasoned sports announcer Joe Buck next season. Buck will replace Cory Provus, who left for Minnesota to become the Twins play-by-play announcer.

Buck has a long history in the sports broadcast business. He has called over 900 ballgames for various teams including the Jacksonville Suns, Great Falls White Sox, Billings Mustangs, and the Expos while they were in Montreal. Last year Buck worked with the Dodgers as a post-game radio host. His resume also boasts stints in not just baseball, but basketball and football as well. For nearly ten years Buck has worked with Comcast Sports, delivering the television play-by-plays for major college basketball and football games. He has also worked with the NBA, calling New Orleans Hornets home games for the past four seasons. This outstanding record of experience made it an easy choice to have Buck be Uecker's partner. He was not alone in when it came to broadcasters vying for the job. He was picked over 150 other potential candidates.

Buck says he first heard his future co-worker in a 1989 movie that cast Uecker as the Cleveland Indians radio announcer. He would eventually discover that Uecker was a serious broadcaster, calling games for the Brewers. Once he got a taste of Bob’s radio work, Buck listen intently every chance he got. After graduating from Michigan State University, Buck was instructed by late Detroit Tigers broadcaster Ernie Harwell and Vin Scully, voice of the Dodgers. He feels that Uecker, Harwell, and Scully are role models that inspired him to get into broadcasting.
